GaryMavis.com
Digital Illustration
Completed 2025

Project Overview
GaryMavis.com needed a set of custom digital illustrations to support a personal website for a local web developer. The goal was to create graphics that felt human, approachable, and technically precise — without overwhelming the layout or competing with the content.
The Brief
The client wanted illustrations inspired by Duluth-style line drawings, but with a cleaner, more modern execution suitable for the web. The illustrations needed to:
-
Scale cleanly across devices
-
Maintain clarity at small sizes
-
Integrate seamlessly into a responsive website
-
Feel personal without becoming overly stylized
Strategy & Approach
Illustration Style
I created a series of custom line illustrations using Adobe Illustrator, focusing on simplified forms, consistent stroke weight, and intentional negative space.
The result is a refined line-drawing style that nods to Duluth’s aesthetic influence while remaining distinctly minimal and web-friendly.
Technical Execution
All illustrations were delivered as SVG files, ensuring:
-
Crisp rendering at any resolution
-
Small file sizes for performance
-
Easy integration into modern web workflows
SVGs also allow for future flexibility, including color adjustments or subtle animation if needed.
Outcome
The final illustrations add personality and cohesion to GaryMavis.com without distracting from the site’s function. They demonstrate how thoughtful, technically sound illustration can elevate a website while remaining lightweight, scalable, and accessible.
This project highlights my ability to translate a visual reference into a clean, usable system — and to design assets specifically for how the web actually works.
